Aufgewachsen in einem alten Hausteil eines ehemaligen Rebbauernhauses am Zürichsee, hatte ich seit Kindesbeinen die Gelegenheit, durch meinen Vater (Architekt mit handwerklichem Geschick), mittels unzähligen Renovationsarbeiten mit Holz, Stein, Eisen und div.Baumaterialien meine Handfertigkeiten und Kenntnisse verschiedenster Materialien zu erlernen. In den Sekundarschuljahren ermunterte mich die Kunstmalerin Silke Glättli im Maluntericht frei zu malen, was mein Interesse für's Zeichnen und Malen bestärkte.
Es folgte Ende der 70iger Jahren eine 3-jährige Kaufmännische-Lehre (KVZ), wobei ich mich in der freien Zeit autodidaktisch weiterentwickelte. Mein Motto "lerning by doing" füllte komplett mein Leben aus.
1983
lebte ich in Südfrankreich in einem Winzerdorf alleine in unserem kleine Ferienhaus. Im Garten entstanden die ersten Steinarbeiten aus Sandstein und Muschelkalk. Das wunderbare klare Licht und die Farben der Landschaft liessen diverse Bilder entstehen, wobei ich das Leinen auf selbst gefertigte Rahmen spannte.
1983-84
reiste ich mit einem Freund fast ein Jahr lang auf dem Landweg kreuz und quer durch Südamerika. Gute 12000km (per Anhalter) und monatelang ohne Hotelübernaachtungen. Es entstand ein Reisebuch mit vielen Skizzen & Zeichnungen.
1984-87
besuchte ich Kurse der Kunstgewerbeschule Zürich (Farbenlehre Johannes Iten) bei meinem Lehrer, Künstler und späteren Freund Willhelm Jaeger.
1987
weiterer Aufenthalt in Südfrankreich zum ungestörten Arbeiten an Skulpturen und Bildern in verschiedenen Techniken.
1988
3-monatiger Stage in England in einem Londoner Vorort. Studium der zahlreichen Museen und Galerien mit dem Skizzenblock.
1988-90
eine Busfahrt nach Istanbul war der Auftakt zu einer fast 2-jährigen Weltreise. Ich reiste alleine und widmete viel Zeit meinem Reisebuch, in welches ich ca. 100 Bilder malte (A4/A3). Die meisten Bilder sind Diptychons, (expressives Farbenspiele und realistische Darstellung).
1998
Veröffentlichung einer Auswahl meiner Reisebilder mit Reportage im GLOBETROTTER-Magazin, Auflage 50'000 Exemplare.
2003
Atelier-Hausausstellung mit 100 Arbeiten im selbst renovierten Hausteil in Erlenbach.
2004
arbeitete ich an einer umfassenden Digital-Dokumentation und erstellte gedruckte Dossiers und eine CD-DVD Präsentation.
Ausstellung neuester Arbeiten in der Galerie Judith A. Ehrenberg, Mannheim INT. KUNSTMESSE SALZBURG, repräsentiert duch die Galerie Alta Ripa, Mannheim.
2007

I grew up in Erlenbach, a village on the lake near Zurich, which inhabits the site of a 200 year old vineyard. As a child and a young man, I observed and assisted my father architect in numerous and varied design and renovation projects. Working on old homes, I learned to work with stone, wood, iron and a variety of other building materials. In the secondary school years, I was inspired to paint and sketch by the works of painter Silke Glaettli.
Toward the end of the seventies, I developed my art knowledge auto-didactically while serving a three year commercial apprenticeship (KVZ). My slogan was "learning by doing," and my life was completely filled with artistic quest.
1983
I lived in Southern France in a winegrower’s village alone in our small holiday house. In the garden I developed my first stonework out of sandstone and shelly limestone. The marvelously clear light and the colors of the landscape inspired me to paint numerous images. I learned to manufacture frames and stretch the linens.
1983-84
I traveled with a friend nearly one year throughout the countries of South America. We hitched 12’000 kilometers and lived for months without hotel accommodation. I developed a travel book with many sketches and designs during this period.
1984-87
I did coursework at the college of arts and crafts Zurich (“Science of Colors,” Johannes Iten). Here I met professor and artist Wilhem Jaeger with whom developed a friendship.
1987
A extended period alone in Southern France allowed time for uninterrupted work on sculptures, paintings, and sketches in different techniques.
1988
While living three months in a suburb of London, I studied numerous museums and galleries with my sketch book.
1988-90
I spent nearly two years traveling around the world solo. I dedicated much of my time to a travel book, painting approx. 100 images (A4/A3). Most of the paintings are Diptychons, one side of which is an expressive color play and the other a realistic representation.
1998
An article about my artwork (with numerous depictions of my work) and travels was published in GLOBETROTTER-Magazine (50’000 of published).
2003
I staged a studio house exhibition with 100 works in a section of a home that I reconditioned.
2004
I developed a comprehensive digital representation of my work, printed dossiers, and a CD-DVD presentation.
2005

Elevé dans une vieille maison faisant partie d’une ancienne ferme viticole, j’ai eu l’occasion de traîner dans les jambes de mon père (architecte)qui faisait d’innombrables travaux de rénovation avec du bois, de la pierre, du fer et différents autres matériaux de construction. Cela m’a appris à utiliser mes talents manuels et la connaissance de ces divers matériaux. J’ai fréquenté l’école primaire d’ici, à Erlenbach et j’ai eu la chance de recevoir durant les deux dernières années scolaires, l’enseignement de peinture de Silke Glaettli (artiste). Mon intérêt existant de peindre librement à été renforcé et s’est actionné de façon créative.
J'ai suivi un enseignement commercial (KVZ), et je me suis perfectionné autodidatcte pendant mon temps libre. Mon slogan "lerning by doing" a rempli complètement ma vie.
1983
J'ai vécu dans le Midi de la France, dans un village viticole où nous avons une petite maison de vacances. Dans le jardin, les premiers travaux de pierres sont nés de grès et de chaux de coquille. La lumière merveilleusement claire et les couleurs du paysage ont pu faire naître différentes images que j'ai reportées sur des lignes, elles-mêmes tendues sur des cadres fabriqués.
1983-84
J'ai voyagé avec un ami presque une année entière sur les chemins de l'Amérique du Sud: 12 000 km (voyage de temps en temps accompagné) et quelques mois sans nuit d'hôtel. J'ai écrit un livre de voyage illustré avec beaucoup de croquis et de dessins.
1984-87
Pendant ces 3 années, j'ai pris des cours à l'école d'arts appliqués de Zurich (cours de couleurs de Johannes Iten) puis ultérieurement j'ai suivi l'enseignement de l'artiste et ami Wilhelm Jaeger. Il m'a encouragé à laisser libre cours à mon talent.
1987
J'ai passé encore quelques mois dans le Midi de la France, afin d'expérimenter sculpture et en peinture, par différentes techniques.
1988
3 mois de stage à Londres où j'ai pris des cours et visité de nombreux musées et galeries avec toujours mon bloc de croquis.
1988-90
Un voyage en autobus à Istanbul fut le prélude d'une quasi solitude pendant 2 ans, autour du monde. J'ai juste voyagé et consacré beaucoup de temps à mon livre de voyage. J'ai peint environ 100 images (format: A4/A5) la plupart sont des diptyques, c'est-à-dire qu'un côté est un jeu de couleurs expressives et de l'autre une représentation réaliste.
2003
Après presque 10 ans de travaux de rénovation et de transformation, ma vieille maison de 100 ans est enfin prête pour recevoir une exposition de mes travaux dans le studio, les couloirs et aussi dans une partie de notre logement.
2004
J'ai travaillé à une documentation numérique complète de mes travaux sur l'ordinateur et aussi fourni des dossiers imprimés. En outre une présentation CD-DVD servant d'idée et de base pour une page de web est actuellement en cours de création.
Exposition des nouveaux travaux dans la galerie Judith A. Ehrenberg, Mannheim. Participation au Int. Kunstmesse Salzburg, représente par la galerie Atla Ripa, Mannheim.
2007
en mars grand l'exposition des sculptures avec des tableaux de Chris Schatt vaste dans la galerie Claudine Hohl, Zurich. Pendant le festival à Avenches exposition des sculptures dans la Galerie Cave Godel avec P.F. Denzler (peinture au sable).
